PhD Student, University of British Columbia
Mark Slodki joined the PIF lab in 2022 pursuing a PhD in Forestry. He has started visiting the Lil’wat Nation to develop a collaborative project about forest enrichment and community development. His research interests include finding creative strategies to facilitate Indigenous practices on traditional territory – with or without formal recognition from Canada. Mark holds a BSc in biopharmaceutical science and an MA in sociology from the University of Ottawa. Originally from unceded Algonquin territory occupied by Ottawa, Mark grew up around forests and carries a love for all aspects of the woods into his everyday life and work. Outside of work, Mark enjoys making music, hiking, reading, and making things with his hands.
